I am changing sites for my writing to wbasketballblog.com this season.

I will be dropping down to eight countries with more detailed updates.

To make up for it, I will be doing a weekly column that will allow me to highlight different things from the entire world of basketball.

Here is the first week:

In a boxscore to be linked in an article tomorrow, Shay Murphy coming out of unofficial retirement was not on my bingo card for this year.

I thought the same thing! I saw some game footage and was like, "Is that SHAY MURPHY?!" Shocked Laughing

Hopefully, she has a good season! Good to see Crystal Bradford back on the court too.

Bec Allen for Valencia in Spain

10/10/2022

After the latest tests to which Rebecca Allen has been subjected, it has been confirmed that the injury suffered by the player while playing the World Cup with the Australian team is more serious than initially reported. The international has two broken ribs and her recovery will take her off the slopes for approximately two months.

Sheesh!! This is also saying that she had partial lung collapse. Wishing her a full and complete recovery! https://twitter.com/alexaphilippou/status/1579971925224611841

Didn't Allen play like 2 minutes or so in one of the World Cup games following her injury? Surprised the medical staff let her back on the court.

Valencia actually posts their news in English too. Just switch the es to en. The difference between that and whatever translation you used is the end says that it will take her away from the court instead of off the slopes.

She missed the last group game and then tried to play in the quarter final (which came after a rest day). She looked in obvious discomfort and lasted only 2 minutes.
But then the next night she played 14 minutes in the semi final vs China.

Major fail by whoever did/analysed her initial scans.

Shouldn't Michaela Onyunwere be included on the Besiktas team in Turkey? Or is the fact that her arrival will be delayed because of her knee surgery the reason she isn't included?

I personally only include people who have actually played a game because there can always be complications before they actually get there. Courtney Vandersloot was supposed to play for Sopron and now that is not happening so from my perspective, it was better to have never listed her.

Wondering what's going on with that Sopron/Vandersloot deal falling apart. They've already got reasonably expensive players there, so it doesn't look like they're suddenly poor. And there was some mention of her not being able to fulfil her contract in their release. Hope there isn't a significant injury we haven't heard about yet.

I thought she was, but she announced early on that she would prioritize her contract with the Lynx, so who knows if something changed…

Maybe prioritization is having an effect
