"Biggest travesty in sports"? Just because Lauren Jackson wasn't included?
I do not know what the eligibility criteria for the Naismith HOF, but "biggest travesty"?

It's not a rhetorical question. I'm dead ass serious. Where is her name in the highest honor of the sport? Is she eligible yet?

She played for Canberra at the end of the 2014-15 season, so she should be up next year

Catchings is a lock. Cash possibly. Hammon is questionable as she never won a title or MVP award.

Anything's possible now that Weatherspoon is in.
Yolanda Griffith is confused right now.

Remember I told the bar higher for Naismith for pioneering and shaping the game
Women’s Committee Nominations
Leta Andrews (COA) no
Jennifer Azzi (PLA) no is in Knoxville all she needs doesn't hit the next level for me
Swin Cash (PLA)* close I say not this year my issue is she did a lot but not a lot on her own so maybe next year not first ballot
Tamika Catchings (PLA)* In legend Pioneer brought game to next level
Becky Hammon (PLA) unless she takes an NBA head job soon no
Susie McConnell (PLA) no
Debbie Miller-Palmore (PLA)* no
Kim Mulkey (COA or player) controversial and being on ballot twice off and may hurt her in long run of vote split belongs as both would have gotten in 3 years ago if she didn't run her mouth imho think she finally gets in so IN
Marianne Stanley (COA) very close esp with the supreme court case out by a hair I'll see what she does back as a hc
Barbara Stevens (COA) I'm not as big on d2 but is close I say eventually
Valerie Still (PLA) finally made Knoxville as close as she gets out
Marian Washington (COA) yes Pioneer for WOC in college ball long record and winner at Kansas In
|
So in this year and it's normally 2 or 3
CATCH
MULKEY
WASHINGTON

That's essentially saying high school coaches need not apply. She coached 52 years and won more games and more championships than anybody else at that level.

Weatherspoon being in is a big piece of evidence that the "New York Bump" is real.

I'm really puzzled by the nomination of Debbie Miller-Palmore. Yeah, she was on the 1980 Olympic team, but she played sparingly in the qualifiers and the team didn't even attend the Games. Three players who started on that team aren't in and aren't going to get in.
Is Top of the Key that big a deal? Does working in the front office for an ABL team help her cause?
I just don't get it.

Is there a level of organized play at which she can still play without resetting her clock? I am guessing that the Bandits (not the Perth ones) will be hyping her putting herself in a game again next year. |

I wouldn’t play competitively on a joint replacement.

Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett lead star-studded Basketball Hall of Fame class
Quote: |
Bryant, Duncan and Garnett will be joined by 10-time WNBA All-Star Tamika Catchings of the Indiana Fever; coach Kim Mulkey of three-time women's NCAA champion Baylor; five-time Division II coach of the year Barbara Stevens of Bentley University; four-time NCAA coach of the year Eddie Sutton; and former Houston Rockets coach Rudy Tomjanovich, a two-time title winner. |
Quote: |
Catchings ranks first in WNBA history in steals and is third in points and rebounds. She also won a national title at Tennessee in 1998.
"I think honestly just what [coach] Pat [Summit] has meant," Catchings said on being the first player in the storied history of the Lady Vols to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. "To be able to follow her lead and follow in her footsteps. One of the main reasons I wanted to go to the University of Tennessee was to play for the best coach and play alongside some amazing players. ... I'm just really thankful and grateful that I got the chance to go to the University of Tennessee and to be the first [Hall of Famer]."
In addition to winning an NCAA title as a player, Mulkey has won 600 games during her 20 seasons leading the Baylor Bears, including a perfect 40-0 season in 2013.
"You'll meet people in your life, and you're like, 'I want to be on their team because they absolutely hate to lose.' I've always been that way," Mulkey told ESPN. "I hated to lose as a player. I hate to lose as a coach. It's just a competitive thing that, honestly, I think you're born with. And then you put yourself in position to play with players who appreciate you, understand you, and then work with coaches who have that same personality." |
