Should the Sparks trade Candace while she still has some value left? Will Beard finally call it quits? Will Vadeeva return next season?

They won’t trade Parker unless she wants to be traded.
Beard most likely calls it quits.
Vadeeva will return. She’s not in the Olympics, so might as well hang out in sunny California for the summer in a beachside apartment.

Beard should join the retired list this season. Vadeeva returns, but I wonder if she'll be a Spark next season(trade?). Sparks have the talent, so I wonder if Fischer is partial to blame?
Also, $10 says the Sparks draft Erica Ogwumike with one of their 2nd round picks(#20 or #22).
PG: Gray/Jones
SG: Williams/Wiese/EOgwumike
SF: Ruffin-Pratt/Mabrey
PF: Parker/COwgumike
C: NOwgumike/Vadeeva/Brown

Aren’t you not supposed to post this thread until after the game ends? This was posted with over 4 mins left in the game.

Signed vets for 2020
Parker
NOgumike
COgumike
Signed rookie contracts
AJones
Wiese
Vadeeva
Brown
Mabrey
Unrestricted
Beard
Ruffin-Pratt
RWilliams
CGray?? Not sure of her status. She was drafted in 2014. First WNBA was 2015. Only has 5 WNBA seasons on record. She’ll most likely want to stay in any case.

I’m not seeing any indication that it was a multi year deal.

The players quit on this coach. Either dissolve the team or fire the coach.

IMO, LA needs to break it up .....I would:
Offer Chicago Parker for Copper, Lavender and the #8 pk
Offer Brown & #8 pk to ATL for Hayes
Sign B.Hartley
G- Gray
G- Hayes
C- Vadeeva
F- N.Ogwumike
F- Copper
6- Lavender
7- chiney
8- TRP
9 -Hartley
10-Wiese
I think Parker would be a good fit in Chicago.
G- Sloot
G- Quigley
C- Dolson
F- Parker
F- DeShields
6- Ndour
7- Parker
8- Gabby
9- Samuelson
|
Wow... LA consistently looks awful without Candace. You'd have to get an actual coach for that to work. |

I think this roster has the potential to be better in the long run.
G- Gray
G- Hayes
C- Vadeeva
F- N.Ogwumike
F- Copper
6- Lavender
7- chiney
8- TRP
9 -Hartley
10-Wiese
You get an upgrade at SG on both sides of the ball...An upside offensively at SF...2 legit double digit scorers off the bench (Lavender,Hartley)...Vadeeva finally gets a chance to be the starting center...and the team gets younger.
LA needs to make a move. Either trade Candace for a package or trade a package for a all-star caliber player to play with Candace,Nneka, Gray, etc..

I'm not knocking your proposal for a trade. The issue is the head coach IMO.
Whether trades are made or not, unless they deal with the HC, they're not going anywhere. This team was extremely talented and that's what ultimately won them games but their lack of coaching was on full display in this series. |

The Sparks have talent but the roster is flawed....I think Toler should get the boot before Fisher.

Parker to Minn
Moore to Atl
Angel to LA
LA
Gray, Williams, McCoughtry, N. Ogwumike, Vadeeva
A. Jones, Weise, Mabrey, TRP, C. Ogwumike, Brown, 2nd round pick
Minn
Robinson, Sims, Collier, Parker, Fowles
L. Brown, Augustus, Christmas, Talbot, Dantas, Shepard #6
Atl
Montgomery, Hayes, Moore, Breland, E. Will
Cazorla, Sykes, Coffey, Billings, Ulich, Coates, #4
Of course it would never happen but I think it works for all three teams
LA and Minn look balanced and like contenders (both teams set of starters seem to make more sense than what they have now, I can hear Minny fans complaining but Parker and Collier at the 3/4 with Fowles as the rim protector would be sick and the shooting at the 2/3/4 would make Robinson more valuable, and in LA McCoutry and Nneka would kill on defense together) and Atl would at least be a playoff team and if #4 pans out maybe top 5 or 6

For one thing, Copper is unsigned. For another thing, the Sparks just traded away Lavender. That is a bridge burned. What are they going to say, “Sorry, Jantel, I guess we were wrong”? You trying to make the Sparks a laughingstock? If that’s what you’re trying to do, it’s going to work, because I’m laughing right now.
How do the Sparks afford all this? CHI would have to core Copper to trade her. Lavender is at max. Hayes is at max. Hartley should be worth as much as Copper. This is going to take some real wizardtry out of Toler. TRP was making vet minimum. Most likely Williams was making vet minimum just to get a job. Those were bargain contracts, especially when you consider the Sparks didn’t have to pay for 10 games of Williams’s contract. Beard was making less than max.
Instead of getting ATL involved, you should have offered:
Gabby + Chey Parker + Mother Jones’s daughter for Candace Parker.
It makes more sense financially plus the Sparks get a couple of fresh pieces to work with. And the most important thing, it’ll make Mother Jones very happy. She’ll be closer to her daughter, and she’ll be getting big time minutes in the Sparks’ system(glib).

Everybody knows you love Chicago because of DeShields. What makes you think Parker will get along with Wade any better than her own choice in Fisher? The one thing Chicago has going for them is that even though DeShields is on the team, they seem to have maintained a team-first attitude. With Parker on the team, wouldn’t that team-first attitude be gone? Won’t it be Parker-first as it seems now at the Sparks?

Should Chicago make a trade to get Parker? No. Parker loves that L.A. sunshine and she can stay out there. Parker is a old fart. Chicago should go after players who are young and hungry to win.

Problem 1 for Minnesota: Does Parker get pass the “No Knuckleheads” policy? She has her moments when things aren’t going her way, she’s difficult to work with. Even though Reeve most likely has Parker posters on the wall, I’m not sure that’s the mentality she’s looking for. The mentality the team needs is the mentality Maya has, and preferrably they should get that back.
Problem 2: Despite all her accomplishments, Maya is still in her prime. If she’s back all-in (and I don’t think she comes back unless she’s all-in), she has a good 6 years left in her. I’m betting Parker only has the rest of her contract (one year) left in her. McCoughtry, maybe three, although she stays in pretty good shape.
It’s an intriguing trade on the surface, but digging deeper, I’d pass on Minnesota’s part.

If Maya is back to stay and not demanding a trade, I think the only team that has something that would truly intrigue the Lynx that they might be willing to part with in some sort of package is the New York Liberty.

Time to ask whether Parker is just not all that anymore. Played only 22 games this year At or near career lows in most stats including PPG, FG%, RPG.....So Lynx not doing a deal like that of their own choice.

You might be right shades, but not for the reasons that you gave. I just did some research on the Lavender trade and it turns out that she demanded the trade from LA (wanted to play a bigger role)....This makes Ndour's free agency much more interesting.

You are 100% correct shades. LA would not have to cap space to sign Hartley. So by default, the combo guard role off the bench would go to Alexis Jones.

That's too much for an aging Parker....Gabby (Back up PG) & Parker (Primary scorer/best rebounder) are essential to Chicago's bench depth. Copper is very similar to Diamond. So her departure would not be felt as much........I also don't think Chicago would have to cap space.
Shades wrote: |

I was big Chicago before they ever drafted Diamond.

I think being on a legit title contender, a change of scenery, being closer to home, and moving back to PF would jump start Parker's engine.

This trade proposal has been rescinded........Lavender wanted out of LA, so I don't see her going back.
