Renowned ABC News journalist and political commentator Cokie Roberts has died at the age of 75.

Roberts won countless awards, including three Emmys, throughout her decades-long career. She has been inducted into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame and was cited by the American Women in Radio and Television as one of the 50 greatest women in the history of broadcasting. She was named a "Living Legend" by the Library of Congress in 2008.

"We will miss Cokie beyond measure, both for her contributions and for her love and kindness," her family said in a statement.

Her death was due to complications from breast cancer.

Significant loss....there are so few truly *likeable* Republicans in public life.

This is a significant loss, but I've never been under the impression that Roberts was a Republican. Her father, Hale Boggs, was the Democrat House Majority Leader, and her mother was also a Democrat Congresswoman as well as the Chairwoman of the DNC. I felt she was likable in part because she retained her "southern lady" charm and politeness.

"I never met her. She never treated me nicely. But I would like to wish her family well. She was a professional, and I respect professionals."

Any guess who tweeted that? Who could make someone else's death about them?

That's actually a restrained response considering the source.

Meanwhile, some idiot named Michelle Malkin took a figurative shit all over Roberts. It's just what I've come to expect from people like her so it wasn't a surprise really.

And speaking of TV journalists, another one, Sander Vanocur, passed away the day before Cokie's death. Sander was 91.
