Pray for healthy players. The Sky is not purple without Lavender.

Sky keep their core and they'll be dangerous. I question whether Williams remains their back-up PG. She was thrown into that role when Faulkner got injured. They need to retain Ndour(is a 6th woman worth a max?). Curious who the Sky would want with their #8 pick?
PG: Vandersloot/Williams?/Faulkner?
SG: Quigley/Copper
SF: DeShields/Samuelson
PF: Lavender/Ndour
C: Dolson/Parker

I'd seriously consider moving Quigley to the bench and starting Gabby or Copper. Quigley can't create offense and is a subpar defender. Asking Diamond to lead the team in scoring and guard the best sg/sf is too much.
Would Minnesota/Maya be interested in a trade:
Copper. Lavender & the #8 pk for Maya Moore and Fagbenie
G- Vandersloot
G- DeShields
C- Dolson
F- Ndour
F- Moore
6- Quigley
7- Parker
8- Gabby
9- Samuelson
10- Fagbenie
Maya can be the #1 option on offense. Diamond can be the primary wing defender and still put up 15-17 ppg

Yes.
Really isn’t even a question at this point._________________

Will Ndour be back next year? I don't follow Euro ball at all, but isn't Spain likely to be in the Olympics?

Only if Maya retires. Otherwise that’s an insulting trade proposal.
If Maya is returning and game-ready next season, in my mind a trade of her only happens if it involves Ionescu or a prominent PG or SG as a part of the package.
But the fact that Maya isn’t interested in the Team USA Miami camp is concerning to me.

Certainly a strong possibility, although as we've seen before that doesn't necessarily mean she'll miss that much time. Lyttle played in lots of international tournaments for Spain without missing all that many WNBA games. |

regardless of her mental state, she's likely totally out of shape.

I’m not sure about that, but I have no doubt she could get in game shape fairly quickly if she puts her mind to it.

I'm for keeping the core together. There is no need to make any outlandish trades.

I'm also for keeping the core together. That's why I originally suggested moving Quigley to the bench and starting Copper or Gabby. I'm just worried that there's won't be enough cap space to sign Copper and Ndour after Chicago re-signs Dolson, Sloot and Quigley.

Chicago can afford to sign Copper and N'dor. They should not resign Faulkner and tell Dolson to take a hometown discount because she is not worth a max salary.

Dolson's hometown team is the Liberty

Dolson is definitely worth max, especially for the Sky’s system.._________________

Now that the Sky have finally tasted some success and have a good coach, I think it is more likely the players stick together. As for Dolson heading home to NY - maybe, but not everyone wants to live close to home. So do and some don't.

If Dolson goes to NY, Lavender starts at center & Ndour at PF. Maybe the Sky draft a post then at #8?

Agreed. This is why signing both Ndour and Copper could be a problem.

They probably can re-sign everybody if they don't bring back Faulkner, as Rock said, and just replace the last bench spots with rookie(s).

Max salaries should be reserved for the elite players of the league. There is nothing about Dolson's game that is elite. If she believes that she deserves a max contract she can go elsewhere and get it. Chicago should offer her $105,000 dollars, MAX.

That's not how the max salaries in this league work. There is such a narrow range allowed that bench players make max.

Then maybe Diamond should stop throwing up so many bad shots. Benching the most efficient guard in the league would be extremely shortsighted.

And 105k is pretty damn close to it anyway. Might as well go all the way if you're going that far.
I would remind everyone that the CBA runs out in a month. We have no idea what the salary structure might look like next season, what kind of exceptions there might be, or on a basic level how tight they might make the cap in the first season even if the structure's virtually the same. 7 max/virtual-max deals on a roster has certainly been done in the past (and Phoenix had 8 highly-paid vets this season), but we just don't know what'll be possible next year. |
