News so far:
Two of the league's best GMs (Townsville's Richard Goodbody and Melbourne's Justin Nelson) have moved on from the WNBL to higher profile/paying positions in other sports/countries. Both are significant losses to the WNBL.
Adelaide Lightning's future has been secured. They have a new owner & sponsors. Head coach Chris Lucas has re-signed for a further 3 years.
Sydney Uni Flames' coach, Cheryl Chambers, returned home to Melbourne for family reasons. (she was commuting from Melbourne to Sydney in order to coach the Flames). Today her replacement was announced - Katrina Hibbert signed as head coach for 2 seasons.
Bendigo Spirit let go of head coach Simon Pritchard at the end of the season. They have filled the position with Tracy York (who has been an assistant coach of Adelaide in the men's league - actually the only female coach in the NBL) on a 2 year contract.
Canberra's coach Paul Goriss has re-signed for 2 more years.

- Kia Nurse has re-signed with the Canberra Capitals. Always good when a quality import returns for another season.
- Steph Talbot has moved from Melbourne Boomers to the Adelaide Lightning
- WNBL minimum salary has increased from AUD $7.5k to $13k

How is the WNBL financed? Are the teams self-funded via ticket sales, concessions and media contracts, or are they subsidized? |

Yeah, self-funded. (Though no one is paying any WNBL teams for media coverage, unfortunately)
It mostly would come from individual teams finding companies to sponsor them, and memberships/ticket sales.

So, does this mean that she isn't going to coach basketball this year? They don't mention her coaching job in that press release.

That would be my assumption. Given how under-resourced the WNBL is, this job will need all the time she can put into it and then some.
It's great that she is officially involved in the WNBL head office now, although I'm not convinced that this role is the best fit for her or the league.

I don’t know if they keep this event more competitive by just using one college team from the USA. That’s the Mississippi State team. Their freshman Rickea Jackson looks to be prominent.

Sorry to hear that. Was looking forward to seeing if Aokusa could take the next step toward being a skilled player rather than just a great athlete. Best wishes to her for a speedy recovery.

Is there a roster list available to share? Does every team have an American on their roster?
