Early but I see that Tenn is overplaying the passing lanes. (would be shocked if they didn't) How long will it take till the Trees find the back door?

for years i've thought tenn would best be served by playing straight-up halfcourt D. It seems they think aggressive overplay is the way to go, all the time.
This, of course, leaves them vulnerable to backdoors and 3s.
Quite a shooting display by SU so far.

Warlick leaves C Green in and she picks up her 3rd foul.
47-37 Trees at the half as they hit 9-14 from 3

Tenn gets a lucky turnover, with 21 seconds left in the half, down 10.
Instead of working a play and taking the last shot, to guarantee being down 10, 9, 8, 7, or even 6, they jack up a 3 with 11 seconds, miss, and allow SU to take a wide open 3, which missed, as the half ended.
Dumb.
15 pt differential from downtown is the difference.

Smith doesn't seem to have a clue on how to defend 1 on 1 (except to foul as the player goes by her).

Tenn's "game plan", like UConn's, rarely changes. The vols like to press & trap all over the court. A lot of their scoring comes off their pressure defensive game. Tonight they got beat by some awesome outside shooting more than anything else. They sure burn a lot of energy chasing the ball. I'm going to enjoy watching as the freshmen hit the wall. Left to play a halfcourt game at both ends the vols are pretty ordinary.
But they are fun to watch when they are running in the open court.

WOW!
Video Vandeveer beats the Lady Vols! Her video machine usually doesn't seem to work for them.

Obviously, a game of spurts.
Although there were moments of Big Momentum shift, I kept feeling as though Stanford had this one. And even if Stanford had lost this one, I also got the strong vibe that Stanford is only going to improve exponentially, by contrast to TN. Really. I'd not be surprised if Stanford makes the FF.

ty. But I'd also not be surprised if they lose in Buffalo in a couple days...

Alanna's goal is the national championship this year. Why not? She's a senior and won't be around to play with next year's great recruiting class.

This year they have the right personnel to play a trapping, running, transition style game.
