New Hampshire has seized control of the America East with a 71-58 thrashing of Albany. (significant! NH just 6-10 in the America East last year!)

Northern Colorado and North Dakota--midling teams just a season ago in the Big Sky, are both still undefeated and alone in first.

Elon has emerged as the early leader in the CAA with a win over Drexel to their name--and they should probably be sending flowers to Towson for that key win over JMU.

Parity has seized the Summit as no unbeaten teams remain in the Summit League. North Dakota State beats South Dakota. South Dakota dispatches of IUPUI, Oral Roberts, and South Dakota State. South Dakota State beats North Dakota State. There's going to be a wild ride here.

The biggest fall from grace belongs to UTEP. the C-USA winners a season ago, are just 4-11 this season. Charlotte, Middle Tennessee, and Western Kentucky look to battle it out here.

Wyoming, just 6-12 in the Mountain West last season has locked up 3 conference wins already as it marches on to the tune of an 11-3 record. Colorado State has stumbled against Boise State opening the door for someone to snatch the crown.

When someone figures out the West Coast please let me know. Gonzaga beats Stanford, but loses to Pacific and Pepperdine? BYU loses to Santa Clara, but beats Pacific. Santa Clara stumbles at San Francisco. It's going to be a wild, wild, shootout here out west--not just in the Pac-12, but in the Summit, Pac-12, and the WCC.

Arkansas State gives UTEP a run for it's money for the biggest fall from grace. 27-6 a season ago, Arkansas State is just 3-13 this season and just 1-3 in the Sun Belt after losing just 1 conference game a season ago.

MAC update. W Division remains brutally competitive. Central MI and NIL both at 4-0 in MAC play, Toledo, Ball St, and WMI tied at 3-1 each, EMU at bottom.

E Division has Ohio and Akron tied up at 3-1 in MAC play after Bobcats took Akron down last night. Drop off in E MAC teams after that, including Miami, Buffalo, BG.

CMU, Toledo, NIU, WMI and Ohio all had big wins last night.(see above)

As Rocket fan, watched Toledo win good road game vs Buffalo, who looked very tough during OOC play. Mikaela Boyd, Toledo's soph ptg and stat stuffer, earned 3rd double double of career, scoring 19 pts, 10 rebs, 4 assts, 2 st. Soph Center Kayla McIntyre scored 15 pts, freshman Finland import Sara Rokannen added 9 pts, and St Fort and Woody contributed 7 pts each. The Rocket's bench produced 23 more pts towards the 73-64 win.

Senior Janice Monakana, ordinarily a starter and major contributor for Toledo, remained on injured list since shin injury sustained in 1rst MAC game v Ball St, and Toledo's only MAC loss to date.

Very rough terrain ahead for Toledo w/home game vs NIL this Saturday, followed by Ohio, Kent St., and CMU.
In still very early in MAC play, remain optimistic re Toledo's MAC Championship run, although rooting for Monakana's experience to return to floor soon.

A season removed from winning the Big West Conference title and the automatic bid to the NCAA's, Hawaii continues to struggle on the road. At 5-10, the Wahine won their first conference game tonight against CS-Fullerton and stand at 1-2 in conference. The transfer of Huff and Sampson did not help matters as Laura Beeman enters year 5 with a recent 2-year extension. She has fallen way short in the recruiting department.

Long Beach State and UC-Davis appear to be the strongest contenders (as of now) to challenge for the BW title.
