RPI as of Christmas for the Big Ten teams:
#15 - Minnesota (9-4)
#22 - Maryland (12-0)
#25 - Michigan (11-3)
#31 - Michigan St (10-3)
#37 - Penn State (10-2)
#45 - Northwestern (11-2)
#49 - Iowa (9-4)
#70 - Indiana (10-3)
#114 - Ohio State (10-4)
#136 - Nebraska (4-8 )
#146 - Purdue (9-5)
#175 - Wisconsin (5-8 )
#193 - Rutgers (3-10)
#222 - Illinois (5-8 )
So, 7 teams in the top 50 (none in the top 10) and 6 teams below 100. I think the thing that most caught my attention was Ohio State at #114. Their 4 losses were to top 20 teams South Carolina, UConn, Miami and Baylor while they have a top 25 win over Syracuse. Evidently the rest of their games have been against absolutely terrible teams for their RPI to drop that low.
What a bad year in the Big Ten.

Maryland is rolling.
Ohio State has gotten their stuff together. Mitchell at point seems to be working.
Indiana has good enough 3 point shooting to come from behind on the road. I think they'll snag an extra win or two with that.
Penn State runs hot and cold, but faces a murderer's row of away games against 5 of the top 6 teams.

Against Iowa, Penn State, Northwestern, Nebraska, and Minnesota? I would hope so. If you're not rolling against that lot you're probably not a tournament team.

Penn State held serve against Tennessee's wing + big, but didn't against Maryland's wing + big. Easy comparison across a common opponent. UM's got a lot of good players in their history, for Brianna Jones to take a record from.

Damn, those players must have had great weeks as I figured Ashley Morrissette was a lock for at least co-player of the week after yesterday's performance at Michigan State: 31 pts, 7 assts, 5 rebs, 4 steals while shooting 11-20 from the floor, 3-7 from '3' and 6-7 from the line. For the week, she averaged 24 pts, 5 assts, 3.5 rebs and 2.5 steals/game while shooting 16-33 (48%) from the floor, 6-13 (46%) from 3-pt land and 10-12 (83%) from the foul line.
I have no idea what the others did but figured it was worth mentioning the great week that Morrissette had.

She had an amazing game!
She made the B1G Weekly Honor Roll - perhaps would have been Player of the Week if Purdue had gone 2-0.

Yeah, it would have been nice to see her get recognized as Mitchell is probably going to win the next 100000 player of the week awards. They must be basing this more on team success than individual stats.

Kysre Gondrezick from Michigan gets the nod for both player and freshman of the week this time around.

3 Tori Jonkoska (Michigan State)
4 Nia Coffey (Northwestern)

She is brutal to listen to. Always fumbling through her lines and doesn't seem to know much about what she is talking about besides giving the most basic insight

Gondrezick is adding stats each week. Early in the season I thought Slocum was a lock for FOY, but now I think the nod goes to Kysre.

With four to five games to be played in the regular season, six teams have six wins and are in contention for the coveted #4 seed with the double-bye. The three win teams will contend for the #10 single-bye spot. (It doesn't look probable that the six win teams can get to #3, nor the three win teams will reach the six win group.)

There are two very important games in the B1G tonight for teams vying for the double-bye. IA at IU and PSU at MSU. Unfortunately they are video sub only.

I think it highly probable the final is between tOSU and Maryland. Unlike most of the big conferences, this one seems the most straightforward. ... Now watch them both get upset in their first games!

How does Northwestern finish 9th in a season like this where the Big Ten is so down??? And Purdue, who is not very good, finished 5th?
The conference needs the championship game to be Maryland vs Ohio State. If one of those two doesn't make it but the other does, it could possibly be a pretty ugly title game. The Big Ten doesn't need that given where the conference is this year.
