I'm anxious to see how good a healthy Diamond DeShields is.

Here's 40, ten from each class, freshman included in case Wooden wants to be bold. I wouldn't be so bold, so I'd nominate the first 30. However, I didn't scrutinize this well-sourced list for current injuries or transfer status.

Diamond DeShields
Linnae Harper
Mercedes Russell
Lindsay Allen
Taya Reimer
Lexie Brown
Makayla Epps
Kailee Johnson
Alaina Coates
Tyler Scaife

A'ja Wilson
Jordin Canada
Victoria Vivians
Ariel Atkins
[Lexie Brown - NO, wrong class] Shakayla Thomas
Kelsey Mitchell
Mariya Moore
Jaime Nared
Brianna Turner
Sierra Calhoun

Te'a Cooper
Marina Mabrey
Ali Patberg
Katie Lou Samuelson
Kiah Gillespie
Asia Durr
LaShann Higgs
Arika Ogunbowale
Kristine Anigwe
Napheesa Collier

Sabrina Ionescu
Kaila Charles
Crystal Dangerfield
Ciera Johnson
Jackie Young
Joyner Holmes
Erin Boley
Lauren Cox
Destiny Slocum
Natalie Chou

On edit: I'd probably depart from my source and try to include UConn's Kia Nurse and Gabby Williams.

Great Caesar's ghost, I had some serious omissions in my list, who must be nominated:

Nina Davis
Kelsey Plum
Shatori Walker-Kimbrough

and strongly should be considered:

Shakayla Thomas
Leticia Romero
Alexis Jones
Jasmine Nwajei

Kailee Johnson from Stanford doesn't even play basketball anymore, she quit the team. Did you mean Kaylee Johnson from Stanford?

The list I was using, which should be familiar to Clay, is a bit dated and doesn't have current injuries, current transfers out, or drop outs. So, thanks, Kailee makes no sense. If Kaylee makes sense as top 30, which I'm not convinced of, then you can nominate her.

From Stanford, Erica McCall, whom I also forgot, would probably make more sense to me.

Tyler Scaife and Tea Cooper are out for the season with injuries.

Linnae Harper won't be eligible until after final exams in December.

You listed Lexie Brown in 2 different classes.

Taya Reimer, Jaime Nared and Sierra Calhoun have not impressed enough to be included.

If you're not going to count freshmen (a very good choice IMHO), then you shouldn't list Ali Patberg either, as she was out all last year with an ACL injury, so she's a freshman herself for all intents and purposes.

Sorry. Those were my comments on Glenn's list. Your list was posted after I started my comment so I didn't see it until after I had posted. I should have quote Glenn's list in my post.

Yes, thanks. I changed my original list of juniors to include Shakayla Thomas instead.

Thanks all for the corrective feedback on my original list, which I said was dated, but otherwise I think the list survives pretty well.

Where did the list come from?

It's the seniors from the 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 MaxPreps high school All-American teams . . . all selected by . . . Clay Kallam.

I initially forgot Alexis Jones because she was in the 2012 class, but selected on the MaxPreps first team that year by Clay.

I'm still surprised that no one had brought up Macy Miller before I included her. The Jackrabbits just aren't feeling the love right now. Crying or Very sad

Marquette's Allazia Blockton has to make the Watch List. She had an unbelievable freshman year leading a really young team. I would predict it's between her and DePaul's Jessica January for BE POY next March.

It's true, there are probably a lot of deserving players out there who are leading their teams. Jackie Kemph from St. Louis will probably lead her team to an A-10 Title, Macy Miller from SDSU is fantastic, Sigi Koizar from Maine may be the best the A-East has to offer this year. This thread has mentioned Claire DeBoer of Bucknell, Lizzy Wendell, and others.

I'd even throw out Elle Tinkle, Jasmine Joyner, aaannnd Kelley Austria as players to keep an eye on this season. Heck, even Ellen Nystrom probably deserves a mention here.

Yeah, that was me who included Kemph, Creighton, DeBoer. But Blockton is an entirely different deal. She's not a good mid major player who deserves a "mention" as you put it. She is in my view easily one of the 30 best players in the country and could play anywhere. She's better than a number of P5 players who have been named here.

Love it when players like Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and Brionna Jones, who were not HS All-Americans or top ranked recruits, make lists like this. Rankings aren't gospel, but clearly these players have worked to earn such recognition. Maryland has done pretty well with players punching above their weights. Tianna Hawkins, Brene Moseley, Katie Rutan, Chloe Pavlech, Kristen Confroy- weren't HS All-Americans, but helped win a lot of college games.

Lexie Brown is a junior eligibility wise. Why would we list players any other way?

I'm surprised that Allisha Gray only made one person's list, although not surprised at the lack of love for fellow transfer Kaela Davis.

Who's "we"? I don't see any list from you, and I don't think it's particularly important for anyone to structure their Wooden nomination list in any particular way.

I obviously have failed to communicate. My list was a playback to Clay of his own choices of AA players while they were in high school. I did that, somewhat surreptitiously, because I thought his high school AA choices have held up very well at the college level. I chose to break down my list by the players' high school class year, but erroneously put Lexie Brown in two different high school classes.

I hope I have now made that clear, and that the whole thing is clearly unimportant.

I liked Gray when she was at UNC, but she hasn't played in two years. I thought that was disqualifying given other available choices. Anyhow, that's why she's not on my list.

If she plays like an All American, she has plenty of time to work her way onto the mid season lists.
