South Carolina loses player before the season begins:

Quote:
South Carolina is down a player before the season begins.

Senior walk-on India Farmer is no longer on the team, a team spokesperson confirmed on Tuesday. The spokesperson did not know if Farmer had quit or been dismissed.

Farmer, a 6-foot forward from North Myrtle Beach, was with the team Friday for “Gamecock Basketball Madness” at Fort Jackson.

Farmer appeared in 44 games over three seasons, averaging 2.7 minutes per. She played a career-high 11 minutes against N.C. Central as a freshman and appeared in 10 games last year.

She scored 10 points in her career with 19 rebounds and three blocks.

ok what happened to Madeline Blais. She transferred from Marist to Dayton and sat out last year, presumably to play this year, but she's not on their roster. Did she quit when Jabir quit... or before that?

Blais spent this past season battling C-diff and losing 40 pounds. That stuff is nasty. Reports are she's
Back home in New Hampshire recovering.

OMG, that poor girl. That stuff is EVIL! Hopefully she is well enough to get back to school by second semester, but maybe not until next year. Sad

Yes, infections like that are just so strange and hard to recover from - hopefully she's on her way. Sometimes it's just hard to diagnose to begin with, then takes time for the meds to kick in, then to recover strength....it all takes time. Anyway best of luck to her.

COLUMBIA, MO. • Another week, another Missouri women’s basketball player is lost for the season with a knee injury. Junior forward Bri Porter tore the ACL in her left knee in recent days, an injury that will likely end her playing career, Tigers coach Robin Pingeton said Tuesday. It’s the second time Porter has torn her left ACL. She’s torn the same ligament in her right knee three times.

And to make things worse, Bri Porter's sister Cierra Porter is recovering from offseason foot surgery. Missouri already lost Jordan Frericks for the year, and now its looking like Missouri will have a tougher road in returning to the NCAA Tournament.

I kinda hate this thread. I open it with dread. It's good to know but at this point, it's usually pretty bad news.

Carly Mohns missed the majority of her sophomore season with a knee injury, and Bluder said the sophomore forward has suffered a setback last summer.

“Twice we had to go in there (for surgery),” Bluder said. “But now we are hoping and anticipating that she’ll be back on the floor by December 1.”

Mohns averaged 3.3 points per game in the nine games before her injury last season. She was granted a medical hardship waiver.

Did I miss something? There appears to be no Ogwumikes on Pepperdine's roster?

I thought they both transferred to Rice last season.

They did, so I guess will have to sit out this year.

This impacts this year's team very little. She was not going to move past the sparsely playing Erin Matthias in the rotation. Unless Lynee Belton is not ready to play...we'll find out tomorrow...maybe

Duke's coach says today that she thinks Haley Gorecki will be back in December around the time when conference play begins. Think she got hurt last year (hip injury?)

Appalachian State's Sophomore guard Kaila Craven, who led the team by hitting 41 3-pointers last season, will miss all of 2016-17.

Ouch. Very tough for a team like this. Well, tough for any team really...and the kid of course.

Michigan State has dismissed junior PG Morgan Green for "failure to live up to expectations of the program despite being given multiple opportunities to do so," according to Twitter.

Green has had a somewhat checkered career, attending at least two high schools, spending a year at JC, and as I recall, accepting a scholarship to Northwestern and then not going for some reason.

Very, very talented player -- a quick point guard who could wind up having a nice pro career.

Rutgers guard Ashli Jeune will miss the 2016-2017 season. She already redshirted in 2014-2015 so I am not sure if she will get an extra year in the future, but sometimes you do see sixth year players.

Most unfortunate. How does a kid like this find a spot at the pro level, if there's a lack of discipline at this level?

In the exhibition game against Glenville State Crying or Very sad She was broadsided by a GSC player and landed awkwardly, then went down on her face and didn't get up. I knew the way she was crying that it was bad. (We were sitting about 4 rows up).
