Unless SNY itself releases the number, we will probably never know.

I did a quick ranking of some of the top drawing games. Of the 12 games, the top six games and 7 overall involved UConn. While most of these games were against ranked competition, I was drawn to the fact that a UConn-Houston game outdrew Tenn/Notre Dame, Baylor/Texas & Texas/Tenn.
12/05 Notre Dame vs UConn ESPN 680,000
12/28 Maryland vs UConn ESPN2 534,000
11/16 UConn vs Ohio State, ESPN2 411,000
1/8 UConn vs Houston ESPN2 320,000
12/11 FSU vs UConn ESPN2 309,000
1/10 UConn vs South Florida ESPN 286,000
1/18 Tennessee vs Notre Dame ESPN2 265,000
11/29 Texas vs Tennessee ESPN 261,000
12/02 UConn vs DePaul FS1 193,000
1/17 Baylor vs Texas ESPN2 123,000
1/10 UNC vs Notre Dame ESPN2 119,000
1/17 Texas A&M vs South Carolina ESPN2 115,000
It would appear that a lot of people would rather watch UConn pummel Houston than watch the much more competitive Baylor/Texas, Texas/Tenn and TAMU/S. Car. games.

Let's keep "lot of people" in perspective. All of these are well under a 1.0 rating. Indeed, all except perhaps the UConn-ND game are well under a 0.5 rating.
Just for perspective, Monday Night Raw pro wrestling gets 3.5 to 4 million viewers each week. Even obscure New Japan Pro Wrestling on the obscure AXS network gets 200,000 viewers. The even more obscure Lucha Underground pro wrestling show was getting 240,000 viewers on the even more obscure El Rey and Unimas networks (80,000 on English language El Rey, 160,000 on Spanish language Unimas). Meanwhile DePaul vs Seton Hall draws 3,000 viewers.
There aren't "a lot of people" watching any WCBB games.

"a lot of people" is certainly a relative term. But the fact remains that UConn's 40 point blowout of AAC bottom-dweller Houston was apparently "more watchable" that the Tenn-Notre Dame game.
Kind of answers the question of those who ask "who wants to watch UConn dominate it's AAC opponents". I'd say more than those who want to watch two P5 powerhouses go at it.

I'd be curious to hear from awhom111 as to what the rounding error is on these. I've been told that any audience under 300,000 or so is counted as a 0.0.
So it may not matter whether it's 20,000 or 200,000. And the question is how meaningful or accurate these numbers of this size actually are.
But I think we know there are more UConn fans out there, so I'm not surprised UConn draws the biggest audience.
As others have asked, I'm very curious what the SNY numbers are. We'll likely never know.

Here is the explanation from sportstvratings.com where I get most of the ratings:
Note: viewership of around 100,000 or lower is technically what Nielsen refers to as a scratch i.e., not enough Nielsen panelists watched for Nielsen to validate it. There are around 20,000 homes in the Nielsen panel and a bit over 50,000 panelists, where 1 Nielsen panelist watching a whole telecast represents around 5,800 people. So something averaging a million viewers averaged around 170 people out of the 50K+ panel small, but still statistically significant. But when theres a show with 30,000 viewers, thats only around 5 or 6 Nielsen panelists

I doubt these are WCBB fans but rather UConn only fans. All that suggests is that there are MANY fans that jumped on the bandwagon of a dominant team. Are you implying that these fans are basketball purists that can only stand to watch the Huskies execute, no matter the level of the competition? I find that hard to swallow.

I'm not a big fan of men's college basketball but I will watch LSU to see Ben Simmons -- I just want to know how good he is because I follow the NBA closely.
It could be that WNBA fans watch UConn, at least for a while, to get a look at future pros, though I'm not sure how many WNBA fans are that devoted.

Since more people watched the ND-UConn game than watched game 5 of the WNBA finals, I doubt if you can attribute the college audience to WNBA fans.

No, that's entirely your inference. It's clear to anyone who can read numbers that more people want to watch UConn, even in a blowout than watch 2 elite P-5 teams. The UConn-DePaul game was on FS1, which has fewer subscribers than ESPN but even a game on FS1 outdrew most every ESPN game. 320K watched the UConn-Houston game. 265K watched the Tenn-Notre Dame game.
While it's clear that fans would rather watch UConn play an elite level team than not, the constant draw is UConn.

The only thing "clear" is the unsurprising fact that there are more fanatical UConn fans out there than there are for other schools. That's hardly a shock or a secret. It's even obvious here on Rebkell. The TV numbers are all so tiny that there is no evidence that anyone in the general population is watching any of these games. In fact it's obvious they're not. The other obvious thing is that Tenn fans are frustrated and losing interest, which is also reflected in their live attendance numbers.
It's hardly surprising or significant that fans of a particular school watch that school's games no matter how crappy the game might be. Happens most everywhere in every sport. There is absolutely nothing in these numbers to suggest that huge numbers of non-UConn fans are saying "wow UConn is so wonderful I'm going to watch another boring 50 pt blowout over a shitty opponent." All it shows is there's a large universe of UConn fans and that they will watch regardless of the quality of the product, neither of which should surprise anyone.

In a way, it's similar to Notre Dame football, which even when the program wasn't elite, still had a national TV contract. People were Fighting Irish fans and watched them pretty much no matter what ... apparently the same thing is happening, on a much smaller scale, with UConn women's basketball.

What has pro Wrestling to do with it? Everyone knows wcbb is a niche sport. The question is whether people would rather watch a poorly played but close game or watch UConn destroy another team with beautiful and elegant basketball. Numbers don't lie. More people would rather watch UConn regardless of who they are playing or the margin of victory. You say they are just UConn fans but you have no idea whether they are UConn fans or just basketball purists who prefer watching excellence to watching two teams play ugly.

I think most people consider pro wrestling a "niche sport" too, but evidently ten times more people tune in to watch "beautiful and elegant" pro wresting with its predetermined outcomes as watch UConn WBB with its predetermined outcomes. Consider that reality before you claim these WCBB ratings are a referendum on the quality of the product, because if it is a referendum the only viable conclusion could be that the product totally sucks.
"Hey, our games must really be beautiful and elegant. After all, we got almost a tenth as many viewers as Monday night pro wrestling."
And you must also realize that given the tiny overall numbers, your claims that a large share of these viewers are non-UConn fans attracted by the "beauty" of UConn blowouts means the number of UConn fans out there must be a lot smaller than I have assumed. It's a zero sum game. Either there aren't actually all that many UConn WBB fans (or there are but they can't stand watching either), or there are a lot of UConn fans and they represent the vast bulk of the audience for those UConn games. I pick the latter.

The question isn't whether UConn outdraws wrestling, it's whether an AAC game outdraws one between two P-5 teams.
My claims? I never said I knew who is watching. Only who is being watched more. Once again you try to put words in my mouth. You are the one who who claims to know that. I have no idea who is watching but I do know that there are more viewers for a UConn- Houston game than for almost any game between 2 P5 teams. Even if one of them is Notre Dame, the school that supposedly has reams of fans all over the country. I guess they just watch football.
