With settlements frequently come non-disclosure agreements, and I think not having the truth out in public will hurt UI's recruiting as well.

Another bad day in Champagne. The football coach gets fired a week before the start of the season because of reports of deferring medical treatment and having players play while injured.

So which athletic program is in more trouble, Illinois or North Carolina?

Should be Carolina, but . . .


I'd be inclined to agree; NC's malaise is far more systemic.

As an illustration of the dangers of relying on an investigation of an institution that was commissioned by that institution, the judge in the Tom Brady case overturned the suspension today. It was largely on procedural grounds, but he also plainly did not think much of the investigation the NFL had conducted by a law firm, apparently putting the word "independent" in quotation marks everywhere it was used to describe the investigation. Ouch.
