Suzie Merchant wins a showdown with Marlene Stollings for arguably the #1 2016 prospect out of Minnesota, Nia Hollie, out of powerhouse Hopkins High school. Hollie is a 5'11 wing.

Five-star recruit Lamina Cooper didn't enroll at Purdue and won't be part of the program. Another stellar day for Versyp's team.

Interesting that the article's author indicated that Stollings commented on this kid's commitment. The rule has always been that nothing could be said about anyone until they sign their NLI. I don't think that has changed but I guess it could have.

She averaged 16.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.1 steals and 2.9 rebounds as a junior last season. |
I'm guessing that second rebound stat is actually assists. Looks like a shoot first point guard. What are her turnover stats?

They already fixed it: Correction: An editing error previously attributed this information to Gophers coach Marlene Stollings, rather than Hubbard's tweet.

Something tells me they got a very insistent call from the UM SID's office. (Which is exactly what should have happened.)

^ Exactly. Glad they fixed it. The NCAA would have had a major issue with her being credited with those comments.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan and women's basketball head coach Kim Barnes Arico have agreed to a three-year contract extension, interim Donald R. Shepherd Director of Athletics Jim Hackett announced on Monday (Sept. 28 ). The extension will keep Barnes Arico at Michigan through the 2020-21 season.
"When I came to Michigan three years ago, I really believed it was a place my family and I would be at for a long time," Barnes Arico said. "I left a top 20 program and the region I grew up in because I believed in the vision of Michigan, everything it has to offer its student-athletes and its commitment to excellence. It has been such a privilege to work at the best university in the world, where I am surrounded by greatness each and every day. My time here so far has been tremendous and I have received an incredible amount of support from the University, the community and athletic department."
"I know what an outstanding coach we have in Kim and I'm thrilled to get this extension in place," said Hackett. "Kim has done a fantastic job of developing students both academically and athletically."

P.S. It should be noted that this is the 1st contract extension ever given to a WBB coach at Michigan.

Three year conference record in a mediocre WBB conference:
2012-13 : 9-7, 5th place
2013-14 : 8-10, 8th place
2014-15 : 8-10, 8th place
Sure sounds deserving of a raise and extension to me.
How exactly has her record been an improvement over Borseth's?
I wonder if Mich would have given a raise to a MBB or FB or Hockey coach with that performance.

Rutgers has announced that the NCAA did not grant Alexis Burke a waiver for an additional (sixth) year of eligibility after her injury, but that she will stay with the program as a graduate assistant manager.
While I'm sorry about this, in reality I don't think it's a huge loss, as she didn't ever get a lot of minutes even when she was healthy. I am glad she's going to be around, though, and her comments make it sound like she's reconciled to the situation.
Here's the press release: You're a coach now
