ESPN does this every year. Who wants to give theirs and start some arguing early?

I've begun compiling a list--which is a headache given that WBBState seems to be down from my vantage point AND how the hell do you decide whether a player is a forward or a wing? I guess I don't watch this sport enough, I'll figure something out.

Exactly, the adjective combo or other more non tradition terms such as stretch is appearing more often for many players. It is difficult not impossible but difficult to pigeonhole many of today's player into one particular position.

Okay, I'll throw this out there. Feel free to dissect, and offer up players. My usual database, WBB State was down when I attempted to do this.

Point Guards

1. Moriah Jefferson, UConn
2. Niya Johnson, Baylor
3. Sydney Weise, Oregon State
4. Leticia Romero, Florida State
5. Angela Salvadores, Duke

Also Considered:
Lindsay Allen, Notre Dame
Rachel Theriot, Nebraska
Angela Mickens, James Madison
Shayne Mullaney, Minnesota

Other Guards

1. Tiffany Mitchell, South Carolina
2. Kelsey Mitchell, Ohio State
3. Diamond DeShields, Tennessee
4. Rachel Banham, Minnesota
5. Courtney Williams, South Florida

Also Considered:
Kia Nurse, UConn
Rebecca Greenwell, Duke
Kelsey Plum, Washington
Courtney Walker, Texas A&M
Lilli Thompson, Stanford

Forwards: (I'm putting Ten Forwards in, I can't be bothered to play with the wing/forward/whatever crapola.)

1. Breanna Stewart, UConn
2. Aja Wilson, South Carolina
3. Nina Davis, Baylor
4. Briana Turner, Notre Dame
5. Azura Stevens, Duke
6. Jonquel Jones, George Washington
7. Aerial Powers, Michigan State
8. Morgan Tuck, UConn
9. Sophie Brunner, Arizona State
10. Shereesha Richards, Albany

Also considered:
Katie Lou Samuelson, UConn
Nia Coffey, Northwestern

Centers

1. Adut Bulgak, Florida State
2. Alaina Coates, South Carolina
3. Ruth Hamblin, Oregon State
4. Jillian Alleyne, Oregon (is she a center? I always think of her as a center.)
5. Mercedes Russell, Tennessee

(Before I thought of Mercedes, I had this)
Schaquilla Nunn, Winthrop (Okay, I have to search harder for a fifth "CENTER" coming back or arriving.

Also Considered:
Natalie Butler, UConn

In terms of point guards, I'd argue that Lindsay Allen at Notre Dame and Rachel Theriot at Nebraska are Top 5 easily.

Wiese at Oregon State disappeared in the NCAAs. She needs to prove herself this year, IMO, if OSU is going to be any good.

I agree. I think it's Jefferson, Allen, Theriot, and Johnson as the clear top 4. # 5 is wide open. Many contenders. Maybe Tori Jankoska or Gabbi Ortiz.

You had me until you listed a player in your top 5 who hasn't played ONE SECOND of college basketball. Not to mention ranked said player over a player who was the MOP of the Midwest Regional in 2015 and helped led her team to the National Title Game.

(LOL at me defending a Notre Dame player's omission -- but fair is fair Laughing )

Compared to the other positions, that is a pretty sad group of centers.

Well maybe because that position is limited, just as the small point guard is becoming worthless. Basketball players, versatile and long are becoming the future.

I'm sure Jefferson might argue with you.

How are you deciding Kelsey Mitchell is the off guard? Does that make Alston the PG?

Breanna Stewart is in no way shape or form a Center.

I'm not sure that Taylor Scaife makes it over Rachel Banham, or Jessica Jackson over someone like Jonquel Jones.

I totally agree about Jonquil Jones. She is extremely talented. One of the better ball handlers for a big. She will be a first round pick in the draft when she graduates.

Banham is iffy right now. Who knows how she will perform after a torn ACL. Hopefully she bounces back. She is really fun to watch.
