So who does the most informed community in women's basketball think should be considered for the top 25?
Any mid-major top ten candidates this year? The usual Power 5 suspects?

My list is those who I think will be the pre-season top 25, not who should be.
1 Connecticut
2 South Carolina
3 Notre Dame
4 Tennessee
5 Maryland
6 Baylor
7 Florida State
8 Duke
9 Ohio State
10 Louisville
11 Stanford
12 Kentucky
13 Texas
14 Texas A&M
15 Iowa
16 Arizona State
17 Oklahoma
18 UCLA
19 Dayton
20 Mississippi State
21 James Madison
22 Oregon State
23 South Florida
24 Green Bay
25 Rutgers
It's more interesting to speculate on who will not be on the list. Will UNC get even one vote? I say yes. Someone will be that ignorant. Will Georgia be off the list for the first time since 2009? How about LSU? It's been a hard fall for those two former SEC powerhouses who, ten years ago both garnered votes as the preseason No 1 team in the country. Will Tennessee be a top 4 pre-season pick for the 5th year in the last six? And can they finally back that up with a FF appearance?

Top 25 is about 20 teams too speculative for me, and I'm having trouble keeping track of who's transferred and who's returning to eligibility.
The top four seem to be reruns: UConn, SCar, Notre Dame, UTenn.
USF-Tampa is scrappy and may be in the top 25 at the end. |

No Princeton? Did they really lose that much from an unbeaten team?

Cal? After losing Boyd and Gray?
I somehow don't see Cal unseating Oregon State who only loses Ali Gibson this year.

Yes Cal. It's not just who you lose, it's also who you add. Cal has by far the best freshman class and I think Anigwe can be a real difference maker. Maybe even the best center in the PAC as a freshman.

Alleyne, Smith, Brunner, and Hamblin would beg to differ.

I'm sure she would. Not sure why that should matter to me. I'm underwhelmed. You're certainly free, indeed encouraged, to provide your own top 25.

Nope. Already considered allof them. I think Anigwe can be a real difference maker. Maybe even the best center in the PAC as a freshman.

Put me in the category that Cal will still be a top 25 team and by the end of the year could be a top 10 team, but with such a young team (no seniors) the nonconference schedule will be difficult. Louisville (road), Texas A&M (Las Vegas), Nebraska (home) and UCLA (home). Even a 2-2 split would make Cal a strong contender in a very competitive Pac 12.
As for the rest of my top 25, give me a day or two. I'm still looking at college football and that season starts in 3-1/2 weeks.

If, indeed, Anigwe (as a freshman) turns out to be better this season than senior Ruth Hamblin, the returning Pac-12 Player of the Year, that'd be really, really something. I guess we'll see what happens.

See, that's your mistake.
Now, if you'd said baseball, that would have been fine.

I generally agree with you Pat but one slight error here...as I recall the honor of Pac-12 POY went to Ms. Reshanda Gray: http://www.calbears.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=209922500 Ms. Hamblin was on the All Pac-12 Team of course.

South Dakota State. Returns four starters plus Gabby Boever, who was out this past season with an injury. Macy Miller (younger cousin of NBA player Mike Miller) was the leading scorer as a freshman and put up numbers with the best of them. I think the fact that a NCAA Women's Regional is being played about 40 miles from campus will up the stakes for this years Jacks team. But don't count out the South Dakota Coyotes! Nicole Seekamp was granted a fourth year of eligibility and has been a two-time tournament MVP.

All respect to Too Tall, you're right, she *was* the coaches' pick for Pac-12 POY this past year. The *media*, however, selected Ruth Hamblin.
Both, of course, had great seasons and are straight ballers.

Why do I have Tenn so far down? First, they lost some good players to graduation. There is a lot riding on DeShields and Russell. Neither has played for a while and both seem prone to injury. There is a high potential for drama. Lastly, coaching has shown to be wanting. Can an offense be developed? Too many questions for a higher pre season rating.
