Canada out rebounding the US. Can someone take away Nurse right hand, she is playing well but if you had watched these games surely you would know she favors her right. Fields also playing much more under control than she ever did for UCLA. What happened to Pfloufe, she is terrible.

Kia Nurse came to play with 17 at the half. Canada defense looks good too. Fields a couple of nice plays.

Glad MoJeff came back to play.

i generally don't bitch about reffing, but jesus i don't recall defenders literally wrapping their arms around an offensive player and not getting called for it.

Shocked

Ace!!!!!!!!

Thank you Brooke for mentioning that block out by Ace. I'm a little behind because I went back to confirm that it was her on that block out.

Jefferson is being very courageous but her ankle is making her offense ineffective. US needs someone else to shoot and hit if hey are going to come back. The committee that thought Plum could play at this level screwed up badly. Plum's uselessness and Mitchell's injury have really hurt.

Canada has played outstanding defense, effectively taking Coates, Reimer and Stewart away.

PASSING, a skill some of the US players lack. They can't read or lead when a player cuts, so they all just stand around or go one on one.

Fields had to singlehandedly carry a whoooooole lot of the UCLA offense last season-- especially in the first half to 2/3rds of it, as the frosh were getting their sea-legs-- and I think the pressure was a bit much for her. Down the stretch, as the team finally settled in, Nirra did too, and she became a more efficient ballplayer.

Plouffe, I dunno, didn't she get injured or something?

Jeez how many ill advised shots has Harper taken this half? Also the offense in third quarter for the US was awful. Was Bluder even trying to set plays or figure out the Canada D?

I'm usually a fan of Team USA in any sport, but tonight was a rare night I wanted the other team to win, just to watch Hofstra alum Lizanne Murphy win gold with Team Canada. She wasn't much of a factor tonight, but she has been in other games throughout the PanAm games.

Congrats to Team Canada, and way-to-go to Nirra Fields (5'7"), whose 7 boards (in 21 minutes of play) led Canada, and also amounted to a higher rebound tally than was collected by all but two Americans (Stewie and Coates, both 6'4"). 9 points for Nirra, too.

Nirra is the second-youngest player on the Canadian national team, btw.

Nice job, Nirra! Congrats, Canada!

I'd like nothing more than to see Canada medal in Rio next year...what a historic night for those kids!

Thank god we still have a good chunk of WNBA left. I'm really not looking forward to watching a half dozen college offenses per day again.

...That said, Canada earned it. Congrats!

They could but not the gold, the Pan Am games are an afterthought for the USA organizers or so it seems. Sending all college players and a coach who I would think that the USAB would never consider for one of their elite FIBA teams.

The better team won. Sometimes experience trumps talent.

Not a bad performance from Nurse who, in the games I have seen her play with Canada this year and last hasn't been a big part of their offense. She is usually on the offside perimeter on offense. But tonight she did pretty good tonight for a woman entering her sophomore year. 33/6/3

Interesting foot note from one of the announcers that half of the starters on the floor at the beginning of the game were either from UCONN or ND.

Never heard that. And just think, if Tuck and Turner had gone out for the team that number could have been 7 of 10.

The Assist/TO discrepancy was telling: Canada-14/12, USA-5/18. Shocked

Congrats TeamCanada

What a performance by Kia Nurse. Well earned and deserve gold for her. I'm sure Moriah and Breanna were like we like her better when she's is on our team lol. She was doing it all for Canada. Nurse and Fields with the hustle plays helped Canada win the gold. Natalie A had couple nice buckets tonite.
