This is a little surprising. Air Force is a tough job and one I thought would require them to hire an assistant because maybe lack of interest from head coaches but they hired a current D1 head coach.

Good heavens, I must live in a vacuum. I have never heard of any of these people mentioned in the last 6 posts, other than Chris Gobrecht, and her only in passing.

"[Pacific's Lynne Roberts] just finished up her ninth season and was Big West Coach of the Year in 2013."

Last season shared West Coast Conference coach of the year honors with two others.

Some assistant coach movement. Georgia Tech hires Rob Norris from VCU. http://www.ramblinwreck.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/041515aaa.html

I take it that he replaces Michael Wholey on staff but I have yet to hear of a landing spot for Wholey.

She's still alive?

Head coaching job at Howard University is now open.

And I am surprised Lafayette hired Grentz. To me that isn't a good hire even if she has a ton of career wins and championships. She is 63 years old and her last few years at Illinois weren't good. She has been out of coaching for quite a few years now so she will have not recruited any kids currently in high school. If they hired a current coach at least recruiting could start relatively smoothly.

Western Carolina hires their new head coach, Stephanie McCormick.

That opens up an assistant spot at Siena.

I thought she was older. I guess it's just that she's been around forever. My bad.

SFA's Brandon Schneider is supposedly the front runner for the Kansas job now. http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2015/apr/19/sfas-schneider-front-runner-ku-post/

she spent the last few years at Lafayette as AHC so she's not coming back cold.

Plus a high academic school like Lafayette is different than a big 10 school or a school trying to transistion into the big east (RU was in A10 when grentz was most successful) she's earned a shot, took a few years as an announcer to be refreshed and came back the assistant way, this is not a bad hire, yes she's no spring chicken but hopefully she can make one last run...i like it personally it's not like she's going into the SEC, a small school like Lafayette can do way worse than gambling on how past their used by date a legend is.

That'll be interesting. KU hasn't had a male head coach since forever.

I'm not sure I would've taken it well had I read it on Rebkell before hearing the news from Coach.

I wrote on March 5: "Maybe it's time for an unexpected lot of us to leave Pacific." :D

So at this point with Kansas and Utah filled, all the "big? jobs are now full. Now there are a handful of openings at the assistant coach level. I'd think there would be movement this week because beginning on Friday college coaches can go out on the road and recruit but I've heard from some people that as long as you have the head coach and two assistants, you can recruit just fine and don't need to rush to hire a 3rd assistant. So the schools with 1 opening are probably fine with not making a hire in the coming days if they want to take their time and interview candidates. Its a rush but I have to think Kansas and Utah hire an assistant or two in the coming days maybe from the new coach's old staff. Georgia and Maryland are the other two jobs with 2+ openings. All the others like LSU, Kentucky, Arkansas, Texas, Nebraska and so forth can probably wait to make a hire.

I have an inkling that one of the two Terps openings will have an occupant very very soon. Someone who will help with recruiting.

BTW, just learned that Brenda has another job to fill, not another Assistant fortunately.

Sean Ehlbeck who started as a practice player, moving on to player development and video intern , then after graduating from UMd, joining Brenda's paid staff as Director of Recruiting Operations just left to join Tina Langley at Rice as her Video Coordinator. I'm betting Coach B is very pleased that Tina's offered Sean this opportunity. No chance that he could move up at MD anytime soon -- not enough experience.

Nebraska fills their assistant vacancy, hiring Britney Brown from Tulsa. Brown played for the OU Sooners from 2004-2007.
