Above is a summary of the Toledo game. Brenae Harris' efforts can't be underestimated. She scored 24 pts and rebounded consistently also. Inma and Ana both scored in double figures as well and the Rockets as a team outrebounded the Broncos.

A stat not mentioned and difficult to quantify is that Miracles Woods, a great player and motivator for WMU, had her 4th foul at about the 8 min. mark of the second half. She was benched and did not return to the floor until 4 mins to go, where a much more effective Toledo defense than the last game between these two rivals held her scoring to low numbers.

The last 3 strong games of Toledo's WBB will hopefully be part of a strong upward trajectory as they next play Central Michigan, at Toledo.

Final Ohio 78, Buffalo 70. An important win for Ohio, as it clinches one of the top two tournament seeds and a bye into the semis. The magic number for the Bobcats, (13-2), to clinch the number one seed is now 1. Any combination of an Ohio win or a Ball State loss (11-4) in the three remaining games would give Ohio the top seed.

Also an important win for Toledo, as the Rockets displace Western for the fourth seed and a bye into the quarters. UT and WMU are tied at 9-6, but the Rockets hold the head-to-head tiebreaker since they won both matchups with the Broncos. Akron (10-5) now holds the third seed.

Not that the New York Bulls went away easily tonight. Ohio built a 21 point lead with just under 14 minutes to play in the game, but UB came charging back to cut it to 3 with lots of time left. Somehow Ohio held on, capitalizing on some slicing layups by both Kiyanna Black (26 points) and Quiera Lampkins (15), then hitting enough free throws to maintain the lead. Mariah Byard recovered from a recent shooting slump to score 19. Mackenzie Loesing led UB with 32 points, including 5-11 from three.

There have been some changes in the Bulls since Ohio played them in January. Rachael Gregory, who started 9 games this season, left the team. And Stephanie Reid, a freshman who was not eligible until this semester, has taken over at point. She is one of four Australians on the Buffalo team.

The Hurons have had it in for Ball State for at least the past 10 years and tonight was no different. It was not an attractive affair, with the PC team from Michigan winning 56-41. Let's say there are a lot of goose eggs on the stat sheet for the Cards and a lot of props for Cha Sweeney.

I have no idea what happened tonight.

Above is The Toledo Blade/BSN story on Toledo/ Western game. If interested, there are articles on our Girls HS Basketball programs, w/several schools going to State in both D1& D2.

The current bunching of MAC Women's teams exhibits that strong in conference parity I first noted in my first post on this thread. Think we all thought this was coming. Note it seems the case in other midmajors as well. Think any team could knockoff any other team due to spread strength, not weakness. Am sure Toledo's young players hope to move up a seed, among other things, in the games to come.

P.S. Apologies for the no# of errors and edits I have had this year-have had many distractions. Will stay more focused, as Coach C. admonishes her players. Also, Joe and Ball St are always right on point w/game dates, stats etc...

Lots still to be decided in the three remaining regular season games. About the only things that have been determined so far are that Ohio will have one of the top two tournament seeds, and that Miami, Kent State and Bowling Green are locked into the bottom three seeds and will travel for their first round tournament games. As Shadowboxer said, everyone else is so bunched up that all other seeds are still in play.

The Central Michigan at Toledo game today will be a big one, as CMU currently has the #9 seed and will have to travel for their first round tournament game unless they can move up. Toledo, currently at #4, still has a shot at the #2 seed.

Ball State and Ohio are the only teams with a shot at the #1 seed. Ohio would have to lose out while BSU wins out for the Cardinals to claim #1.

One minor correction, Joe. Stephanie Recker, Sr, not Sophie Reecher, Soph, is graduating this yr. Steph had played limited hrs her first 3 yrs until officially bowing out with a back disability at the beginning of this yr. See above article on seniors, today's coming game above.

Final Ohio 67, Bowling Green 47. Combined with Ball State's loss to Western Michigan, the win clinches the MAC regular season championship for the Bobcats, and the #1 seed in the MAC tournament. It's been 20 years since Ohio last played a postseason game. This season they are guaranteed a spot, either in the NCAAs or the WNIT.

Inma was triumphant in helping Toledo defeat CMU 62-53 in her Senior game, although it will not be her last home game. As of now Toledo secures its first Tournament game for the home floor. Inma had 18 pts, 4assists, 5 rebounds, and 3 thefts in a complete game performance. Her parents from Spain were in attendance for her Senior game.

Sophomore Janice Monakona scored a double double of 10 pts and 11 rebounds, while Freshman Jay Ann Bravo-Harriet scored 16 pts, 3 of whch were treys.

Congrats to OU and the Bobcats for their MAC regular season win and that guaranteed spot in either the NCAA or WNIT after a twenty yr postseason dry spell. Celebrations, Joe-you've been patient!

Inma was picked again for MAC West player of the week. The article also reviews all of Inma's MAC POW awards during her 4yrs at Toledo, as well as all 4yr stats and other awards she has received.

Here's hoping Inma beats out Crystal Bradford for POY for 2014/15, in recognition of what Inma meant to Toledo statistically and as leader of this yr's young but determined team.

Central Michigan has announced that Crystal Bradford will not play again this year due to her knee injury and that her career at CMU is over.

Above is a summary of the Toledo v NIU game. Inma scored 18 pts, and 2 other Rockets were also in double digits. Toledo's offense was just not enough today, with only 2 treys made, 19 t/o's, and NIU's Amanda Corral a one woman offensive show for the Huskie's. Toledo was in the game up until the 9 second mark, having closed the game in the last 5 minutes first to 5, then 3, then 2 pts but ran out of time as an NIU player who was fouled made her last two points to seal the score at 68-64.

Know we play one last game at BallSt and will watch tonight's MAC game scores to determine any impact on Toledo's position.

And still want Inma to win MAC POY and Jay-Ann Harriet-Bravo to be awarded MAC Freshman of the Year.

Final Ohio 69, Kent State 56. Some worrisome issues surfaced in this win, as the Bobcats did not look like a team peaking just in time for a tournament run. 21 turnovers for a team that has prided itself on taking care of the ball all season is bad news, especially since several of the TOs were caused by an inability to handle the press by Ohio's point guards Kat Yelle and Yamonie Jenkins. Potentially more problematic is Lexie Baldwin not playing in the second half. She is Ohio's starting post, and if she is injured, leaves Ohio with only one post available to play.

Good news came in the form of Ohio's only senior, Mariah Byard, who knocked down 17 points and provided some key defense. And if a player can be said to have a good stat line while scoring only 1 point, Jasmine Weatherspoon did. She had 12 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 blocks while playing heavier minutes than usual in Baldwin's absence.

Nice piece on Shelbie Justice, who Ball State honors as its only senior today. By coincidence, Ohio will honor its only senior today, Mariah Byard, who will also graduate with a degree in nursing.

Ball St over Toledo, 71-55, at Ball St on Senior day. As the radio announcer repeatedly stated, Toledo "had no answer for"...Jill Morrison's 3's,...Bennett in the paint, Ball St in general. Toledo shot 32% to Ball St's 50% from the field. As with NIL, Toledo committed a whopping no# of T/0's, 10 in first 8 min of game. Coach Cullop, when interviewed described 'unhappiness" w/defense "not following scouting reports and leaving Morrison open". Regarding shooting, she said "Ball St gave us the shots we wanted and we didn't make them".

In second half, as game continued to slip away, Cullop rotated a lot of bench players, freshman, into game "as no use wasting legs" for playoffs, starting Monday, where Toledo Will play either BG or Kent St at home. Hopefully, the home crowd will refocus and re-energize Toledo's Women's players back into winning form.

Jill Morrison showed why Kelly Packard had her signed sealed and delivered to Ball State long before she was a graduate of Winchester High School. Morrison exploded for 20 points while going 6-8 from beyond the arc. One of those threes was a bomb from half court. She added seven boards, four assists and two steals to the line.

The light finally came on for Renee Bennett as she put up a career high 18 points which included going a jaw dropping 8-8 from the line. Normally, she is rather weak at free throws and this day was the days fans were waiting for. I know her teammates have told he she can and will be THE dominant Big Girl in the Conference and all she needed was a little confidence.

It was a typical physical and fugly Ball State - Toledo game, but Toledo never had a chance. Never led, never threatened. Cards at one point led by 22 before winning by a score of 71-55. Which was the same score they had when they played Tennessee.

Toledo won, or lost, the TO states 18 to 17, whereas Ball State has 17 assists to Toledo's eight.

Personally, I was shocked Sallee did not get a technical. And call me Homer, but Nathalie Fontaine should be POY.

Final Ohio 75, Miami 60. The Bobcats cruised to a 40-19 halftime lead, then withstood foul trouble and a short bench in the second half to claim the victory. Mariah Byard treated senior night as a celebration, coming out for the pre-game ceremony with smiles instead of tears and following up with a 4-6 shooting performance from three. Ohio's usual one-two punch of Black and Lampkins led the scoring with 18 and 13 points, followed by Hannah Boesinger with 12.

Bob Boldon seemed confident after the game that his team would be healthy by next Friday's semifinal. But Lexie Baldwin was a DNP today with what Convo rumor said was an as-yet undiagnosed knee injury, and Tmisht Stinson barely played with an undisclosed injury. Kat Yelle took a shot to the eye early in the second half and sat the rest of the way. Her eye was swollen almost completely shut by the end of the game. Good thing the Bobcats earned the triple-bye with the #1 seed. They'll need the extra time to heal.
