Senior "Night".
This game will be of no interest, so I'll use the space for another whine and rant about the loss of CPTV as the UConn TV carrier.
CPTV broadcast all the games right through the conference tournament with some very occasional exceptions. CPTV streamed for a fee. CPTV could be received through the air for free.
SNY seems to have third dibs on games after ESPN and CBSSN. So, SNY only gets the totally boring games no one else wants. SNY doesn't broadcast the conference tournament. SNY doesn't broadcast Senior Night. SNY has no video stream.
CPTV used to broadcast the entire Senior Night ceremony and have long highight features on each of the seniors. What we got today is a last minute video stream by UConn with completely distorted and unintelligible audio.
This game is on CBSSN. My $170 a month cable package doesn't get this station or ESPNU. The extra charge sports package doesn't include CBSSN. I have to buy a second extra charge Family package to get it.
I could (third party) DVR and create DVD's for every game from CPTV, and did so from 2002-2014. I can no longer DVR anything because the cable signals are all digitized.
Phooey on "advances" in technology and TV "coverage".
Oh, I was wrong; there has been something interesting: Kiah Stokes mother is white. |

Memphis in a good position here, down only 32-4.

burning question is if they can get to 10 by halftime.

I doubt there would a difference in which games CPTV broadcast, had they retained the rights.
They gave us the PC blowouts; they'd have given us the Memphis, et al, AAC blowouts.
Yes, they were better w/ the Senior Night ceremony. That was the only thing, imo.
IIRC, SNY will give us a year-end wrap-up.
UCONN wanted to go w/ SNY- the $$$ was virtually the same.
ETA: the good games had already been skimmed off by espn and cbs. In the AAC, the are fewer conf games of interest (in fact, none), so SNY was screwed, along w/ the rest of us, w/ the conf. realignment crap.

Actually you can. Just need something like a Hauppage Colossus and you can record them all in HD off your cable box, store them on your hard disk or burn a DVD or Blu Ray, and keep all you want.

I have cable and a tivo box and record whatever I want. I think GMAC needs a DVR primer.

Yawn, maybe they could give the rest of the teams in that league a handicap when they play UConn.

I think the highest handicap the USGA recognizes is 36. Wouldn't be enough to help.

Most of my rant was aimed at Charter cable, which I've had for 23 years. Their packaging and prices have always driven me crazy.
I have a Charter DVR, which of course can record the game if I get the channel. But I used to be able to directly record the games with my Panasonic DVD recorder/burner, wholly independently of what the Charter DVR was doing. Then I would edit out all commercials and burn DVD's of every UConn game with the Panasonic. However, the Panasonic can no longer recognize the encoded digital signals from Charter.
I still can record on the Charter DVR and then later input it into the Panasonic, but that's too many steps, too much time and attention. I don't know if there's a device that can translate the encoded cable signal into the analog signal my Panasonic can recognize.
I think the SNY coverage used to be better in the first year, but the conference change gave more TV rights to ESPN and CBS.
The game was perhaps the most boring of the most boring season ever. |
