Biggest surprise to me is FSU up to #9.

I got Florida St and Nebraska closer than Shades, but he was a bit better than me on everything else. Smile

I love this year's new-look Maryland team, but #5? Uh uh, I think they're ranked too high.

Well, both they and Baylor have the W/L to support their ranking but if you actually examine their schedules you're left wondering just how good they actually are.

I don't know the answer on either one, and I'm not sure we'll know an answer before the NCAA tounament begins.

I think TAMU is also ranked a little high.

Three weeks ago today, FSU was unranked, and in that 21 day span, I believe Bulgak missed 2-3 games? I don't think a 2 seed is out of the question.

I guess we all have somewhat different perspectives based on what games we have available to watch. For me, I get BTN and have set up series recording for their women's basketball games. I find Maryland the most exciting team to watch. Their passing game is excellent. One of the announcers said a drill they do is to time how fast they can complete their passes.

Although they don't have one superstar because they are all good scorers, I love watching Downtown Lexie Brown (my name for her).

We have somewhat different perspectives, but not because of what games we've watched. I watch every MD game on BTN, BTN+ or from my seat at Xfinity (I'm a season ticket holder.)

My point was simply that MD, while having a great record and plenty of balance, talent, athleticism, etc. hasn't really been tested against any top 10 talent (except for that ND game which I'm trying to forget). I LOVE this year's MD team. They've already surpassed all my expectations. They are so much better than I thought a team minus Alyssa Thomas would be. But I just don't think they've played the same level of competition they used to in the ACC, and until they do, and show that they can beat those teams, I think a #5 ranking might be premature. We agree on most things, just not that.

I also agree that MD, despite being Alyssa-less, is really quite good, on a consistent basis (visits to Washington nothwithstanding Razz )

The only thing that I found *puzzling* in this poll? Georgia LOSES a game and moves UP one notch. Shocked

The game they won, and the results of some of the teams ranked ahead of them might have had to do with that. I'd actually say it shows some wisdom and perspective on the part of the voters, even if I'd rather Rutgers had moved up even more.

Here's my Week 13 prediction, before Shades shares his. Very Happy My top 12 is unchanged from last week

1. South Carolina - I never had them #1 this entire season
2. UConn
3. Baylor
4. Notre Dame
5. Maryland
6. Tennessee
7. Oregon St
8. Louisville
9. Florida St
10. Kentucky - Don't think losing to TEN should drop them
11. Arizona St
12. Stanford
13. Texas A&M
14. North Carolina
15. Duke
16. Nebraska - Loss at Iowa should put them and Iowa closer in rankings
17. Iowa - Jumps Mississippi St & Princeton
18. Texas - Should fall a few more spots this week after loss to TCU
19. Mississippi St - Don't think losing to TEN should drop them below Princeton
20. Princeton
21. Rutgers
22. Georgia
23. Syracuse
24. Chattanooga
25. George Washington

In: George Washington
Out: Oklahoma
Ooh, just missed!: Seton Hall

I expect Kentucky to drop even if it's not fair. Similarly, Iowa's loss to Maryland, fairly or unfairly, probably keeps the Hawkeyes from jumping up 2 spots.

Texas - I'm beginning to wonder what's wrong with them, and with 5 losses in 7 games (mostly to unranked teams, remember), I also kind of wonder why they're still ranked.

Mississippi State - I agree, but I suspect otherwise.

Ummm....you DID hear they lost team leader Nneka Enampkali, right? That really was a huge blow to their steam. But don't worry....they're planning on taking Baylor down. Soon. Cool

1. South Carolina
2. UConn
3. Notre Dame
4. Baylor
5. Maryland
6. Oregon State
7. Tennessee
8. Louisville
9. Florida St
10. Arizona State
11. Stanford
12. Kentucky
13. Iowa
14. North Carolina
15. Princeton
16. Nebraska
17. Mississippi State
18. Texas A&M
19. Duke
20. Texas
21. Rutgers
22. Syracuse
23. Chattanooga
24. Georgia
25. Seton Hall

After 13, it's essentially a mess. I don't like UNC being that high, Princeton moves up essentially because they haven't lost. You really have to move Duke down after that fiasco with BC. Kentucky--should drop at least one, if not two. Stanford was impressive so far this week. Georgia just confuses me. I like Seton Hall. Notre Dame's win over TN puts them over Baylor for me.

Oy. I don't know why I keep forgetting that.

In some ways that's even more reason to wonder they are still ranked, though.
