Texas A&M has a phrase which I think fits here tho I paraphrase slightly
"A true champion does not lose, though they may run out of time"
With the impact that she made, the lives that she touched...I think this fits beautifully.
I too pray for a peaceful passing, on her terms, without suffering.
Lord knows she's made more of an impact on people's lives in nineteen years than a majority of common men and women do in close to a hundred years.
And for that I just say...with respect...thank you

Wow. I was looking for the words to say but there is no need because you captured my thoughts and feelings perfectly.
I also hope her immediate family finds strength to get through the inevitable and really celebrate what their daughter/sister accomplished in her much too short life.

No words to say. She made her presence felt. Respect.

Again this is what makes this story admirable to me. While yes she has raised plenty of money and awareness for her condition (and cancer in general) the larger sense I always have gotten is that while she took the opportunity to raise awareness, deep down, she just wanted to play, just wanted to be a part of the team she committed to days before being stricken.
I think everyone sees that in her...and if they don't...I really need to find the Youtube of that PBP man getting told off about calling it her last game (And indeed it wasn't )
There is something just organic about this story to me that I don't see in a lot of these stories...maybe it's just me...but it seems to me when you boil it down...the girl just loves Basketball and being around her teammates. It's likely what's kept her going this long.
Yes she used the opportunity to raise a LOT of money...gave her teammates a sold out game in a 10,000 seat arena on regional television with Pat Summitt, Tamika Catchings, EDD and other WBB legends in attendance. Something to be more than proud of...it gave a face to the faceless. As she said herself, it was not her last game, it was her first.
But that game, to me at least didn't define her...it didn't start with the game, and the story certainly didn't end with it.
And in the end the heartbreaking part of this whole story is the feeling that we truly are losing a class act.

Cool. I saw this mentioned on the local news this morning, but couldn't find anything anywhere else, so I figured that they had old news. Thanks!

I worked in home health back before hospice was split off and became a separate entity, and back then we each often had two or three hospice patients on our team along with our regular patients. I always felt it was the people who were dying who taught you the most about how to live. Lauren Hill proves that once again.
