*Huskers aren't as good as they were at this time last yeAr
*seven new comers. 2-3 are going to have to contribute. Adventure to see who steps up in practice
*tight conference race. Feels almost everyone will be improved plus rutgers and Maryland will join
*could see 8 B1G teams to The Dance

I agree, especially with #4. Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State and Rutgers are all tourney contenders. I don't think Penn State (talented but too young compared to everyone else) or Purdue (will continue to slide under Versyp's recruiting) finish in the top 8.

The B1G is deep. Should be a fun season. I think Maryland will probably win the conference.

Yeah, these last couple of recruiting classes have been absolutely horrible... I agree that it is very much wide open. Northwestern should have been a contender for the last couple of reasons but they seem to lose games they shouldn't while sneaking out a couple of wins they shouldn't have as well.
I think sometimes having a lot of returnees gets overrated. I'd rather have a young team full of excellent players than a team full of returnees that are decent to good players. Yeah, the young team is going to have growing pains but sometimes that talent will just win a game or 2 for them. That's where a coach can really come into play.
This league is as talented and deep as it has been in a long time...and the addition of Maryland and Rutgers is only going to add to the chaos. I see 10-11 teams that all have NCAA Tournament capabilities vying for those 8 or so spots.

Interesting. I have Iowa, MSU, Minnesota, Nebraska and Rutgers in my Top 5 and Maryland in the next tier down with Michigan, Northwestern, and Ohio State. But it's just one giant crapshoot on paper. Iowa and Minnesota get extra points from me for having Draft-quality seniors.

I posted the B1G preseason polls in the BIG News thread. Maryland is consensus #1.
