OVERTIME!

Apparently it's a day for dumb moves. Wanisha Smith fouls Tamara James on a three pointer with three seconds left to allow the tie.

Duke seems to be putting it away 90-84 with 1:33 to go.

Maybe. They've been struggling at the line all night.

If Gametracker is right, Currie had 43 points, breaking Beard's scoring record of 41.

99-93, Duke.
Tamara James has 32; Mo Currie, 43. The rest of the team was busy turning the ball over. (26 turnovers for Duke.) To paraphrase Roy Williams, it's amazing you can have so many turnovers and still win.

If I'm reading Gametracker right, Currie picked up her 4th foul about 5 minutes into the second half.

She didn't touch a player the rest of the way Wink .

I really do think that Tamara James can have a very solid career in the WNBA. She is very good...it's just a shame that she's only 5'9".

Great performances by Tamara & Monique.

Wasn't Dominque Canty in a similar situation? A forward who had to transition to guard? James has the advantage of having actual range though.

I think so. If I recall correctly, Canty was listed as a forward at Alabama. She had a tremendous midrange game and could rebound/elevate well. She would've received more consideration for SEC POY awards if it weren't for...well, you know. Wink

I always thought of her as a guard, when she was in the SEC, but that was probably just me, she handled the ball a lot, I always assumed she was a guard.

I just checked an old SEC media guide and see that she was was actually listed as a guard. For what it's worth, she was the tallest guard in a three-guard line-up.

I don't think it matters too much. With a 7.4 rpg average, I think she could've played forward.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Mystics took Tamara James with the five pick. There's no clear number five out there; if you ask ten people, you'd probably get ten different answers....

Right, she didn't. Wink

And her fourth foul was with 14:41 to go in regulation as needbb noted. So most, if not all, of that time plus two OT periods without another whistle. That was as impressive as the 43 points imo.
